Description: Heartland Foundation proposes a Web 2.0 social network site for past, current & future students in their youth empowerment programs. The primary focus is to engage students through interactive content generation and provide a place to meet, greet & share information. A secondary focus is to provide a forum for teachers, administrators, volunteers & parents. Youth involvement in planning, implementing & marketing the new features is a critical factor. A panel of current & past students of the programs will be engaged to brainstorm on site design, features & functionality. They will work with professional Web designers to construct the site.Tools & features will be programmed by the professional web team with input from students. The team will meet monthly to review web reports from Google Analytics. They will learn how to read/analyze reports to suggest improvements for the site. Other features will include a news feed; and a Project Showcase Gallery. Student learning opportunities will include: Web Design, Web Development, RSS Programming, HTML Programming, Content Management System (CMS) use, and Google Analytics.
