Description: North Carolina Central University Foundation/HMCUC - Funds will be subgranted to faith-based and community partners in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to equip and facilitate two Web 2.0 projects benefiting the students of this rural town. The project will build on an existing e-tutoring program that allows tutors from urban schools in Durham to assist students in rural areas using Blackboard software. In addition to continuing the e-tutoring projects, with supplemental funds, the Elizabeth City community partners and students will receive training in how to use Web 2.0 applications. Through service-learning projects, the students will develop a robust website, hosted by the community partner that features blogs, wikis, and links to social media outlets. These new Web 2.0 additions will help organize tutoring and mentoring of students, enhance instructional capabilities and better connect the rural and urban student participants.http://www.rivercitycdc.org
