Description: West Virginia Commission - Youth ages 18 and younger comprise 75% of the users of www.volunteerwv.org. Project FLOW (Future Leaders of Watersheds) proposes to develop blogging capacity allowing youth using the website to reflect on their service experiences when logging their volunteer hours. FLOW youth will form a focus group to develop blog criteria such as the code of conduct, the classification list, and icon selection. The focus group will also be given the option to monitor the blog to ensure that the code of conduct and criteria are being met. FLOW's focus group will demonstrate the blog and develop mechanisms to market this to other youth on the volunteerwv.org website. Adding this enhanced technology feature will encourage youth to communicate with other FLOW youth working on similar service projects throughout the state. They will connect virtually between face to face FLOW meetings such as the Youth Academy, Summer Watershed Leadership Camp, and the Learn and Serve Conference. In addition to the blog, the WV Commission proposes to purchase software for pod casting on the volunteerwv.org website. This technology will be used to post previous telephone conferences, subgrantees' interviews and service pictures, or other audio or visual images that will facilitate grant administration and raise the profile of service-learning and FLOW subgrantees.
