Excel Youth Zone and California Department of Education, CalServe Initiative, are pleased to host the 2011 Service-Learning Leadership Institute. This Institute is design to support leaders in service-learning across the state of California as they learn and share how to design, implement and sustain service-learning across their schools, districts and counties. It is also a great opportunity for organizations to prepare for the submission of an application for funding to become a CalServe Partnership grantee.
The theme of the 2011 Service-Learning Leadership Institute is “Learn. Serve. Sustain.” With the growing demand on educators and increase budget constraints on schools and afterschool programming, we look to service-learning as a strategy for success. Service-learning powerfully engages students in their learning through service that sustains youth development and community improvement. We invite in-school and afterschool educators to develop your service-learning and professional skills at this year’s Institute and together we will LEARN, SERVE AND SUSTAIN service-learning throughout California and beyond.
Workshop proposals will be accepted until Dec. 13, 2010.
