In this workshop, Clemson Faculty Fellow Dr. Cassie Quigley (Science Educator), Ms. Robin Pope (Middle School preservice teacher), and Ranger Cathy Taylor (Park Ranger at Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, SC) will discuss the benefits and challenges of service-learning in environmental sciences. This workshop will provide attendees with specific ways to connect with partners in your community including ways to ensure meaningful collaboration, example projects, and materials on how to engage your students. Additionally, this workshop will provide a variety of perspectives by including the professor who implemented the projects, a student who participated in two different projects, and a community member who has benefitted from the relationship.  Although the topic area will be specific to environmental science, the presenters will provide helpful tips and suggestions to anyone interested in infusing service- learning into their classrooms.
