Conference Attendees at Booth The National Service-Learning Clearinghouse travels across the nation to about 12 conferences and service-learning meetings each year. Staff make presentations, participate in workshop sessions, and operate an exhibit booth where they provide resources, reference, and technical assistance, and network with colleagues.

2005 National Conference on Community Volunteering and National Service

NSLC participated in several sessions at the 2005 National Conference on Community Volunteering and National Service in Washington, DC, August 4-6.

Barbara Holland, NSLC Director, was a moderator for the town hall forum on "Show Me the Money!" She also presented "Strengthening Partnerships for Service and Service-Learning Programs".

Carlos Pedraza was co-presenter for "My Improvement Plan: An Online Tool for Getting You the T/TA Resources You Need".

Several staff from the National Service-Learning Clearinghouse and the Resource Center participated in a comprehensive joint exhibit with the Corporation for National and Community Service. This provided a one-stop solution for conference participants seeking information about and resources from Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America.

16th Annual National Service-Learning Conference
"Educating for Change"


Barbara Holland, NSLC Director, presented "Designing Assessment to Strengthen Service-Learning Impacts," on Thursday, March 17.

Barbara Holland, NSLC Director, Carlos Pedraza, Associate Director of ETR Associates Clearinghouse Services, and Denise Lee, NSLC Project Coordinator presented "Using a National Resource to Build Your Service-Learning Program," on Friday, March 18.

Carlos Pedraza, Associate Director of ETR Associates Clearinghouse Services, presented "Making Citizenship Vital to Youth," on Thursday, March 17.

Barbara Holland also moderated a Featured Session with Howard Gardner, was a panelist for "Growing to Greatness Annual Report," and co-moderated the Higher Education Affinity Lunch.

2004 National Conference on Community Volunteering and National Service

NSLC sessions at the 2004 National Conference on Community Volunteering and National Service in Kansas City, June 6-8 included "What is Service-Learning" and "Assessing Service-Learning Outcomes". NSLC also participated in "Building Successful Partnerships with Schools, Businesses, and Faith-Based Organizations: Models from National Service," a session given jointly with the National Service Resource Center.
