Share Our Strength Grants

Sponsored by Share Our Strength and Parade Magazine, the Great American Bake Sale provides funds to anti-hunger organizations working at the local, state, and national levels. Grants will increase the number of children participating in USDA summer and after-school nutrition programs by focusing on start-up and expansion grants to nutrition program sponsors.

Skoll Foundation: Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship The Skoll Foundation has awarded more than $100 million in their flagship program, the Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship, which invests in social entrepreneurs whose work has the potential for large-scale impact in critical social change areas: economic and social equity, environmental sustainability, health, institutional responsibility, peace and security, and tolerance and human rights.
Sol Hirsch Education Fund Grants

The National Weather Association will award grants of 500 dollars to individual K-12 teachers with proposals to educate their students in meteorology. Past recipients have used the funds to purchase scientific materials or equipment for the classroom, attend a relevant workshop or conference, or take an accredited course in atmospheric sciences. All K-12 teachers in the United States are eligible to apply.

SparkOpportunity Challenge

The SparkOpportunity Challenge calls on young people to submit videos or text detailing their solutions and use social media to campaign for the ideas that they think can really work. The top-voted winners will receive an iPad, start-up grants of $1,500, and mentoring from recognized business and policy leaders to see their ideas brought to life locally. Organizers are launching this online effort in response to the White House Council for Community Solutions' call for the nation to do more to reconnect young people with the education, training and comprehensive social supports critical for long-term employment and lifelong economic independence.
