Hot Topic: Character Education

According to the Character Education Partnership, "Character education promotes core values in all phases of school life and includes proactive strategies and practices that help children not only understand core, ethical values, but to care about and act upon them." Service-learning can be an effective means of meeting the funding guidelines established by federal and state character education legislation. It provides an innovative opportunity to connect academic learning and the values emphasized in character education with real-world application.
