Although library services are free to eligible participants, borrowers are responsible for the cost of shipping materials back to the library.

  • Use the single search box to view our library collection.
  • Browse topics to see selected library materials with other resources.
  • Contact our librarian for personalized reference assistance.

  • Ask for library materials by email or call 866-245-7378 x660.

Want Photocopies?

  • Contact our resource specialist for a copy of an article, excerpt, or chapter in the library.
There is no photocopying of entire books or journals. Some materials may be protected by copyright law. Based on the amount of copies needed, there may be a fee for certain requests.
  • This service is available to all NSLC website users who live within the U.S.

Circulation Policies and Procedures

Obtaining Materials

  • Everyone who wants to begin borrowing from the library must start by completing a loan agreement. An authorized person such as a project supervisor or director must sign the loan agreement and be responsible for borrowed materials.
  • Three materials may be checked out at a time for a period of one month. The due date may be extended if the materials have not been requested by another patron.
  • If materials are needed by a specific date, please contact the resource specialist at least one month in advance to verify availability and reserve them.
  • Once requested materials have been shipped, they should arrive within three business days. The library uses UPS 3-day or ground service (depending on the location of the borrower).

Returning Materials

  • Once materials are in the possession of the borrower and until they arrive back at the library, the borrower is responsible for the full cost of replacement if materials are lost or damaged. Borrowers are also responsible for the cost of shipping materials back to the library.
  • Return materials to NSLC at 4 Carbonero Way, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
  • Materials can be returned via any carrier the borrower chooses (like UPS, FedEx, or USPS). When returning materials, it is the borrower's decision to insure them (or not). The library strongly suggests insuring shipments - especially when using USPS.
  • If materials are not returned by the due date, a reminder email will be sent. If they are not returned within four weeks of their due date, an email may be sent to the borrower's supervisor. After six weeks, your agency will be invoiced for the cost of replacement.

Disclaimer:
The library offers materials and information as a public service only. Providing these materials does not constitute an endorsement by the library or any other organization. It is the responsibility of the user to evaluate the materials prior to use.
