Proceedings Journal represents the efforts of K-12 teachers and practitioners with diverse backgrounds unified to articulate a framework for teacher action research. This volume is divided into three parts: I. The Michigan K-12 Service Learning Center presents an overview of completed and on going studies in service learning indicating the two broad outcomes -- intellectual and academic outcomes, and social and psychological outcomes. The Center discusses the methods of investigations, findings, recommendations and future directions of service learning research. II. Researchers present a starting poi a launching pad for teachers who are ready to prepare and discuss their results is also presented. III. Annotated bibliographies and quotations that should be of interest to teachers and practitioners are attached. Informative notes for interns, student teachers and helpful professionals undertaking research in classrooms for the purpose of improving practice are included.
