Abstract:
Allam discusses a service-learning program at Bath Junior High, in Bath, Maine. Middle school is noted as the last best time to make an impression on students. Also, studies have shown that participating in school and community life help students develop problem-solving skills, social competence, autonomy, and a sense of purpose and future. For these reasons and more, Bath participated in KIDSNET (Kids Involved Doing Service in New England Towns) and initiated service-learning.
