Abstract:
Chamberlain notes how inclusion ("the integration of special education and bilingual students with regular students") became part of the Springfield Public Schools education program. The inclusion was assisted by integrating community service into the curriculum. Middle school children without disabilities serve as assistants to children with special needs. The student volunteers reflect on their service experience in their writing class. (SH)
