Combining Service and Learning on Campus and in the Community

Student workshops can complement coursework in the academic disciplines and provide field training for public health, social work, urban planning, and other professions. This article describes three community planning workshops for college students: a community planning workshop in rural east central Illinois, a neighborhood revitalization project in Chicago, and a University of Michigan sponsored voter participation workshop.
