Abstract:
The publication notes how Oakland, California; Wray, Colorado; Delray Beach, Florida; Wichita, Kansas; Dawson Country, Nebraska; Washington, North Carolina; Cleveland, Ohio; Pulaski, Tennessee; Fort Worth, Texas; and Laredo, Texas have innovatively established programs to combat local social problems related to crime prevention/substance abuse, education, health, economic development, cultural activities, housing/poverty, strategic planning, environment, and disaster/crisis response. These cities won the All-American City Award from the National Civic League for their programs that solved social problems by uniting diverse people of the community.
