Abstract:
The article describes how the partnership between the Pike Market Senior Center (Seattle, Washington) and Carlson Leadership and Public Service Office (University of Washington) has benefited the seniors of Pike Market and the learning opportunities of the University of Washington students. What was originally seen as a strictly volunteer venture of the students by the staff at Pike Market evolved to an understanding of how the service at the Senior Center was most applicable to the students' academic course work.
