Abstract:
The Health Professions Schools in Service to the Nation Program (HPSISN) was a multi-site, multi-year program designed to explore service learning as a tool for curricular reform within health professions. The report shares the evaluation methodology, a summary of findings across the sites, and recommendations regarding the potential of service-learning in health professions education. The four research questions related to university-community partnerships, student readiness for careers, faculty engagement in service-learning, institutional capacity to support service-learning, and the impact of service-learning on community partners.
