Abstract:
The University of California at Los Angeles' Higher Education Research Institute has released the results of its 31st annual survey of first-year college students. The institute surveyed 252,080 students at 464 schools about their political and social views, educational interests, academic plans, and socio-economic backgrounds. The survey shows that fewer students seem interested in learning for its own sake, although more plan to attend graduate school. Only 23% considered community service important, although 73% had participated in such activities. Around 55% considered themselves political moderates. (Expanded Academic ASAP)
