Abstract:
Educators are increasingly concerned about the problems of violence in US schools and communities. Some are looking into service-learning programs which can reduce violence. Such programs should be aligned with the Social Development Strategy and should be characterized by meaningful activities, recognition of student effort, skills-based instruction and defined expectations for non-violent behavior.
