Abstract:
The article describes the national trend toward school based community service projects. Projects benefit student participants, communities, and schools that are often plagued by social ills. The article cites examples from Colorado, Minnesota, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and California that demonstrate how community service is being effectively integrated into public K-12 education. (SH)
