Abstract:
This paper reviews literature on the effects on children of various out-of-school time activities, and the impact of various care arrangements. Literature pertains to the following topics: school-age children; children in self-care; programs for children in self-care; school-age child-care programs; defining program quality in school-age child care; and lessons for program evaluation: methodological issues and suggestions for future research.
