Abstract:
A resource monograph designed as a resource on teacher preparation programs for middle school teachers. Included are examples of how training can be provided, including field placements as collaboration between schools, communities and organizations. Inclusions cover knowledge necessary for middle school teachers to connect to the community, the context of school-community connections, the need for community connections in connection to early adolescent developmental characteristics, types of school-community connections, and how middle level teacher preparation programs can promote school-community connections. Resources and references for further information are included.
