Abstract:
The report describes how the University-Community Outreach Program (UCOP), formed by the Foundations of the Milken Families, uses higher education and community cooperation to improve urban life. The report describes the goals, premises, programs, participants, and outcomes of UCOP. It reviews literature on university-community cooperation, records demographic data on U.S. urban areas, and charts resources of urban area universities (as they could be applied to campus-community partnerships to help alleviate urban plight).
