Abstract:
Silcox discusses the project aspect of service-learning projects. Dissecting jobs and missions into discrete projects has become a way to manage business. Replicating project management makes sense in the schools as well. However, the focus on project requires slightly different management skills and may require some retraining, or retrenching of teaching styles. Silcox leads educators through steps to facilitate project management and finishes by describing some successful projects. Chapters include the following: Meaningful Service: Doing the Deed, Recognition, Celebration, and Service Fairs, Motivation, More about Reflection, and Pennsylvania's Outstanding Projects.
