Stories from the Field: Strengthening Service Learning Policy and Practice.

Author:
Timothy K. Stanton
Publication Date:

Abstract:

The article notes how service learning practitioners have examined the history of the movement to not only understand the past, but also to strengthen service learning's theoretical, policy, and practice dimensions in order to help transform education and society. They learned that service learning has its roots in a number of different movements (such as land grant colleges and settlement house education) and that early service learning practitioners were activists.
