Abstract:
Stola reviews Hedin's and Conrad's article "Service: A Pathway to Learning". The article focuses on supervised community service programs and stresses the importance of forging links between schools and the broader community. Hedin and Conrad do not answer how the students surveyed will apply what they have learned in their futures but do note that community service does help students clarify their values and develop problem framing and problem solving skills.
