Abstract: 

The value and importance of conducting research in service learning resides in: providing the basis for program development and improvement; documenting a program's effectiveness to a school's administrative leadership and to a funding source; and establishing a climate conducive to the wider adoption of service-learning and community service educational models. The procedures outlined in conducting research in service learning include network to gain research support, choosing what to study, choosing research instruments, choosing a research design, and disseminating the research findings.
