Service-Learning in Higher Education.

Part of "Service Learning: Ninety-sixth Yearbook of the National Society for the Study of Education", the authors note that service learning has become a formally designed component of undergraduate education. The chapter describes factors that have led to the current interest in service learning in higher education, the history of service learning in higher education, and issues and tensions that have evolved between service learning and curricular and co-curricular models. A list of resources for further information about service learning programs in higher education is included. (SH)
