Abstract:
The authors discuss reflection activities in service-learning, which are a critical component because they connect the service activities to the course content, extending the educational agenda beyond rote learning. They describe the different types of reflection, such as journals, experiential research papers, ethical case studied, directed readings, class presentations, and electronic reflection. They present criteria for assessing levels of reflection and discuss the consequences of reflection.
