Abstract:
Part of a special section on developmental perspectives on civic education. A study was conducted to examine whether organizations, schools, and families can play a role in spurring civic engagement among 15-25 year olds. Data were drawn from a large, multiphase study of civic engagement exploring the overall state of civic and political engagement and the distinct routes to participation among young adults. Findings revealed that home, school, and opportunities provided by outside groups all positively influence the civic engagement of youth.
