Abstract:
The author asks what a Jewish perspective on service-learning might offer. A prominent Jewish value is for education to be inextricably bound to improving community life, and Jewish tradition emphasizes the need for compassion, charity, and justice. These values, along with awareness of citizenship and fostering a democratic society, are the foundation of service-learning.
