Abstract:
This booklet discusses the growing trend toward cooperative education, or "action learning," programs in American secondary schools. The conclusions and implications of a number of recent reports dealing with secondary education in particular and young people in general are considered, followed by a discussion of the objectives, criteria and implementation of action learning programs. The appendix describes the action learning programs in each of 25 exemplary schools throughout the U.S.A. A short bibliography of publications relevant to the topic is included.
