Abstract:
This chapter examines some of the ways that authentic reciprocal partnerships between universities and community service agencies are created and sustained. The author examines characteristics which allow such partnerships which include time, fit, attention to power dynamics, communication, acknowledging expertise, and evaluation and assessment. Several profiles of successful partnerships are included to illustrate how these characteristics work in practice.
