Abstract:
Examines the possibilities of service-learning abroad within the context of an increasingly international society and a global economy in which social problems and issues cross national borders. The author offers three options for service-learning abroad: utilizing the programs of other institutions and organizations; a student designed, developed, and managed program; or a combination of the first two approaches. Issues to consider in selecting an approach are covered, as well as principles for international partnerships, and selecting and preparing students.
