Abstract:
The authors contend that many future partnering opportunities will rest on the ability to link efforts to the civic renewal agenda. The history, status, and future of partnerships among the networks supporting civic renewal are described, and the authors argue that together, these reform efforts can refocus the academy's attention on what they see as it's highest purpose - the nurturing of our democracy and the renewing of our communities. Special attention is given to the relationship between service-learning and civic renewal in higher education and the potential of this relationship to advance service-learning on campuses.
