Abstract:

This chapter applies some of the fundamentals of service-learning course development to the design and implementation of high-quality community-based research, offering a discussion of the possible methodological challenges relative to each step of the new proposed model, as well as outlining potential solutions for addressing such research challenges. The primary audience is professors who plan to enhance the quality of life of their targeted community populations while conducting research with a health promotion or mental health focus involving their students and older adults.
