Abstract:
My Voice is a service-learning approach that starts with kids. It is a process of self-discovery, reflection, research, and action that connects the classroom with the community. This manual, field tested with approximately 250 Philadelphia public school teachers, walks educators through the five steps of the My Voice process and includes standards-linked lesson plans, reproducible worksheets and examples of successful activities and projects. Anecdotes and stories complement the teacher-friendly lessons, which include a variety of reflection activities and assessment suggestions.
