Abstract:
Both service-learning and multicultural education are based on the belief that students regardless of affiliations such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, social class, religion or exceptionally should have equal access to knowledge. Both multicultural education and service-learning recognize that our communities, nation and the world are culturally pluralistic and both also foster the concept that education should reflect this reality. This article looks at how multicultural education and service learning can work as partners to teach democratic values. [author]
