Abstract:
The author describes how her course, "Human Rights, Human Wrongs" can be seen as evidence that a service-learning course can successfully blend academic rigor with service and can integrate a community-based experience into the political science classroom. This course was structured as a senior government seminar that examined the literature on human rights and had students apply that theoretical knowledge to political asylum cases in an INS detention facility.
