Abstract:
The author discusses the move from service and volunteerism to social activism. The concentration is on the state of service-learning in Spanish and how it inspired several students to strive for more social justice than what was required in their courses. The author concludes that it is the teachers' role to support such a transition and encourage students to be fully engaged citizens.
