Abstract:
Higher education consortia can be instrumental in developing community leaders to address social, economic, and environmental issues that face most communities and regions in the United States. Community development initiatives offer special opportunities for partnerships among institutions of higher education as well. This article addresses the above and provides examples of successful consortia, considerations for success for community development and troubleshooting tips for such partnerships.
