Service to Civics

This document includes twelve case-study examples that show programs with an explicit intention to use service activities to achieve civic outcomes. The programs show a range of design and structure, providing youth and adult participants with opportunities to develop a variety of skills that each program believed would contribute to the successful participation in a democratic system of government. The skills that the programs were intending to hone included everything from advocacy to letter writing, voting to organizing, protesting to running for office. (Author)
