These Tutor Tip Sheets were created as part of a grant awarded to Indiana Campus Compact (ICC) and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) from the North Central Regional Education Laboratory (NCREL). Indiana Campus Compact is a membership organization of twenty-nine Indiana institutions of higher education. ICC sought the NCREL grant to improve and extend the tutor training done through the Indiana Reading Corps as a part of the national American Reads initiative. Faculty at member campuses were invited to submit training proposals for the following topics: children's literature, emergent literacy, mentoring and youth development, and diversity. A collaborative training approach was encouraged and each team of presenters consisted of a faculty member and a K-12 partner. Each team of presenters created training packets and overheads for the training session, and these Tutor Tip Sheets are the result of this session. (author)
