The California Civic Index (CACI) was designed to learn about: the extent to which California students are committed to future civic participation; the kinds of civic and political activities in which students are currently involved; the capacities--including knowledge, skills and feelings of efficacy--which students currently have for active citizenship; and the capacities--including knowledge, skills and feelings of efficacy--which students currently have for active citizenship. The survey is organized into four categories of outcomes: 1) Civic Commitments, 2) Civic Capacities, 3) Civic Activities, and 4) Civic Opportunities. Scales for Civic Opportunities are not presented here but are available by contacting the authors.
