Abstract:
Children in classrooms across American are identified as receiving food assistance. Many of these students make valued contributions to school and community through service learning activities, and that includes issues related to hunger. When doing service activities related to childhood hunger, teachers discuss these circumstances in respectful ways. This curriculum includes background information about The Great American Bake Sale and classroom lessons that are easily adapted to a variety of settings and grade levels. Activities in the guide offer options for implementation and often reference suggestions for different grade levels and curriculum connections. (publisher)
