Abstract:

This Civic Education Curriculum was developed for Massachusetts Youth Councils engaged in managing a community service-learning (CSL) mini0grant process for youth groups. The curriculum is designed to cover six core concepts: local community; local government; active citizenship; community service-learning; youth philanthropy; commitment to civic engagement. Each lesson is meant to introduce one of the core concepts above to youth council members.

Each one-hour lesson includes: an overview; objectives; preparation needed; learning activities; reflection prompts; options for action; and resources. (author)
