Abstract:
This article looks at a service-learning course developed for a small liberal arts college, and the lessons learned from the professors who designed the course. "Feminism and Families" was a study of the dynamics of domestic violence in the U.S. and the lives of surviving women and children, the course was designed also to provide an opportunity for students and professors alike to reflect on the meaning of service itself, and the relationship between participation in a service-learning course and our own developing senses of vocation in the world.
