Creating a Federation to Encourage Civic Engagement

This article discusses the community engagement of America's colleges and universities and proposes the creation of a federation in order to propel this movement. There is a discussion of the Wingspread hosted meeting to explore cooperative strategies and plan for the creation of a federation across engagement-related organizations. Participants in the meeting came up with the concept of a "Higher Education Network for Community Engagement" or HENCE, with the emphasis on the word "network."
