This chapter sets out some broad definitions of engaged scholarship, providing the context of models of practice, discussion of faculty recognition and rewards, and challenges for faculty and institutions in embracing this work. The chapter ends with a description of some promising practices and resources that may be useful for individuals and/or institutions interested in making institutional changes to recognize and reward engaged scholarship.
