Abstract:
This paper discusses a service-learning project involving a first year composition class and students in an after school program at an urban high school. These students created music programs and web content for a public radio station housed at the high school. Examining the tensions that arose reveals how students and the instructor found it difficult to negotiate the social and pedagogical terrain of this project. (author)
