Abstract:
This article describes service-learning projects for an American Sign Language course which enabled university students to improve language skills, appreciate Deaf culture, and provide services to the Deaf community. The Deaf community provided an immersion experience so students could develop language skills and learn cultural aspects. Through service-learning, hearing students and the Deaf community developed a harmonious relationship across linguistic and cultural differences. (author)
